<B>1853/2 $20 AU58 NGC.</B></I> This overdate has been known for quite a number of years, and despite efforts by some to show that it is actually not an overdate variety, it remains an important part of any double eagle collection. This example represents the exact obverse die that has been described as an overdate, with traces of the previous figure inside the lower loop of the digit 3. A small but prominent die chip is positioned on the coronet below the tail of R in LIBERTY. Both sides have nearly full luster with rich yellow and orange gold color. Few finer examples of the overdate have been certified.
