1853 10C Arrows MS65 PCGS. Fortin-121. Gerry Fortin has enumerated approximately 40 varieties of 1853 With Arrows Seated dimes on his subscription-based website, www.seateddimevarieties.com. Nearly all of these varieties are individually illustrated. While the F-121 variety is not particularly rare, this piece may be the finest known. Identification of the obverse is immediately evident, as the right arrow stem is lightly joined to the upper right curve of the 3. Actually, the stem and upper rear edge of the right arrow is recut, and it is the recutting of the stem that contacts the 3 in the date.
This light golden beauty is an amazing Gem, with light clash marks in the obverse and reverse fields, but no evidence of die cracks on either side. The fields on both sides are fully mirrored, although not deeply so. The contrast is sufficient to provide a delightful cameo appearance. The coin is sharply struck, with every detail showing remarkable depth and completeness.

Coin Engraver: Christian Gobrecht

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
