1853 10C Arrows MS65 NGC. Ex: Ashland City. After Congress passed the Mint Act of February 21, 1853 and the weight was reduced on subsidiary coinage, the Mint geared up for large-scale production of the new, lighter weight coins. About 50 pairs of dies were prepared for use in the Philadelphia Mint alone, and after production for dimes began in April more than 12 million pieces were eventually struck. This is a high-end Gem that has softly frosted mint luster. Just a touch of light golden toning is seen over each side. A lovely, problem-free type coin. Population: 71 in 65, 55 finer (11/07).
From The Madison Collection.

Coin Engraver: Christian Gobrecht

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
