1852 S$1 Restrike PR60 ANACS. Like the 1851 Seated dol
1852 S$1 Restrike PR60 ANACS. Like the 1851 Seated dollars, those dated 1852 exist in both Original and Restrike varieties, but unlike 1851, these 1852 varieties are not so easily differentiated. Of course, pieces that are considered business strikes are clearly Originals, but proofs exist of both varieties. In his Silver Dollar Encyclopedia, Dave Bowers wrote that a single obverse die was used for both Original and Restrike varieties, and he went on to describe six different reverse dies, three used for Originals and the other three for Restrikes. It is probably the case, as Bowers suggested, that some of these are duplicate descriptions of a smaller number of actual dies. This piece, certified at the basic PR60 grade level, has light hairlines that limit the grade, but it is crisply struck with deeply reflective fields and satiny devices. Both sides have mottled gold and blue toning. At the PR60 grade, this piece may prove affordable for quite a few collectors that would be priced out of the market for a higher quality piece.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
