1852-O<50C> MS62 NGC. A bold striking with prooflike tendencies under attractive layers of lilac-gray, turquoise, and burnt-orange toning that gather strength at the margins. The 1852-O is the scarcest O-mint Half, excluding some of the early rare varieties. Although the mintage of 144,000 pieces was low to begin with, much of the production was likely melted, since its contemporary bullion value exceeded face. Census: 1 in 62, 4 finer (9/06).
