<B>1852-O<$20> MS60 NGC.</B></I> This is an extremely important example that represents a date seldom encountered in Mint State grades. In all numerical levels, just 28 Mint State pieces have been certified by both PCGS and NGC combined. This population certainly represents a smaller number of physical specimens. In fact, Dave Bowers estimated that just four to seven Mint State coins actually survive, noting: "Uncirculated coins exist, mostly at the lower end of the spectrum, some likely to be evaluated as high-end AU pieces by some observers." The example that we are offering is an amazing piece with vibrant green-gold coloration and deeply reflective prooflike surfaces. A few scuffs and abrasions in the fields and on the devices prevent a higher grade for this piece. On the obverse, a small rectangular planchet flake just above the bust tip should serve as an identification point for pedigree purposes. This is an aesthetically pleasing piece.
