<B>1852-O $20 AU58 PCGS.</B></I> New Orleans gold type collectors are drawn to the 1852-O, which is among the more available O-mint issues of the denomination. The favoritism shown the double eagle denomination at San Francisco was not shared in the gulf region, and once the West Coast had their own mint, the flow of uncoined bullion into New Orleans was substantially reduced. The 1854-O double eagle had a mintage of just 3,250 pieces, and the days of reasonable O-mint twenty production had ended. This partly lustrous and slightly subdued green-gold example shows only a whisper of friction on the wingtips and cheek. Relevant marks are absent.
