1852-O $2 1/2 MS63 PCGS. During the early 1850s, the influx of newly mined California gold ensured higher gold production at all of the different mints, including 140,000 quarter eagles that were struck at New Orleans in 1852. Despite this mintage, the surviving population seems to be quite low, and Mint State examples are rare at all grade levels. This piece is the only MS63 graded by PCGS, and just four similar grade coins have been certified by NGC (4/07). Neither service has seen a finer quality piece. This example is an impressive green-gold piece with fully reflective fields and brilliant luster. A few minor hairlines are evident, but not are distracting. It has excellent eye appeal and ranks among the most highly desired pieces in this sale.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
