1852 N-8 R2
1852 N-8 R2. MS-60. Glossy chocolate and light olive brown with 15% of the original mint red remaining. The fields are frosty and this cent would be choice except for a shallow low spot that covers the neck and chin plus another on the forehead and one more on the hairbun. These were caused by debris on the die and are often found on the later die state of this variety. The best identifying mark on this cent is a bit of slightly darker toning that connects the tops of the C & E in CENT. M-LDS, die state c, with faint die cracks on the obverse but no die cracks on the reverse. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS63 Red & Brown (PCGS label included).
Estimated Value $150-UP.
