1852 Letter With Slavery Content. One page, 8” x 6.5”, December 23, 1852. In this letter an inquiry is made as to the cost of a female slave. It reads in part: “What would be the lowest price you would be willing to take for her…Mr. Pilson was here a few days ago & Amy says he told her to get me to write to you on the subject…They have some money and say they will pay as much as they are able, but will not be able to pay the full price.” The letter bears the usual fold creases and a few very small stains, else very good. From the collection of Henry E. Luhrs.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
