1852-D $2.50 Liberty
<Our item number 109180>1852-D $2.50 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-61. Boldly struck, lustrous, light color gold. Winter 15-M, the only known dies. Typically struck for the issue, this coin actually displays fairly solid definition for a product of the Dahlonega Mint. The central detail on both sides is quite sharp, while that at the borders is sufficiently bold despite a bit of characteristic softness to the denticles. The color is a blend of green-gold and orange-gold shades that provides pleasing eye appeal. Satiny mint luster is also a positive attribute, as are surfaces that do not reveal any sizeable or singularly distracting abrasions.

After the 1854-D, 1855-D and 1856-D, the 1852-D is the rarest Dahlonega Mint quarter eagle produced during the 1850s. We assert that no more than 85 examples are extant from an original mintage of 4,078 pieces. Most survivors grade no finer than Extremely Fine, while Mint State coins probably number as few as 10 to 15 pieces. The fifth rarest D-mint Liberty Quarter Eagle in high grades, the 1852-D is more challenging to locate in About Uncirculated and Mint State than such earlier issues as the 1843-D, 1844-D, 1845-D, 1846-D, 1847-D, 1848-D and 1849-D. Pop 1; 6 better. (PCGS # 7765).
Estimated Value $14,000-16,000.

Our item number 109180
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
