Crossing the Plains, Narrative of the Scenes, Incidents and Adventures attending the Overland Journey of the Decatur and Rush County Emigrants to the "Far-off" Oregon in 1852. Printed from a Diary and Daily Events kept by the late Origen Thomson. Includes a narrative of a buffalo hunt, a battle among wolves, description of crossing mountain passes and fording rivers, camping at night and ice cream on the Fourth of July! Also has a list of all of the members of the Crawford Party. No editions of this book (1896) are currently listed on Amazon or ABE Books. Cover has large bend across bottom right. "J. M. Thomson" written on front page. A relative??? This is an extremely rare book.
