An unusually high grade for this popular issue, one of the last produced by the U.S. Assay Office prior to the departure of John Moffat from the firm. This honey-gold piece displays full detail on the eagle's breast, although the fletchings show slight incompleteness. Die rust causes a pebbled texture to the obverse, as made, but conspicuous marks are absent. Luster is particularly abundant across the reverse, which exhibits the engine-turned design attributed to Humbert's prior experience as a watchmaker.
