A sharply struck example that has clean surfaces and full coruscating luster on the reverse. After the retirement of the well respected John L. Moffat, his former partners Curtis, Perry, and Ward reorganized as the United States Assay Office of Gold, with August Humbert still present as assayer. 1852 Assay Office Tens are sometimes available in XF and AU grades, but Mint State pieces are rare. Listed on page 298 of the 2005 <I>Guide Book.</B></I> Population: 5 in 62, 2 finer (7/05).
