1851 P1C One Cent, Judd-128A Restrike, Pollock-150, R.7, PR65 PCGS. This coin is mounted in the PCGS holder backward, and we will use Andrew W. Pollock's definition of the obverse and reverse. The former side displays the denomination CENT above and the composition ONE TENTH SILVER below a non-perforated center. On the reverse, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounds a laurel wreath. Struck in billon (10% silver, 90% copper) with a reeded edge. Less than half a dozen pieces are believed known of this variety today. Light olive-gray tinting overlays both sides of the currently offered example. Distraction-free save for two or three trivial contact marks on each side of the piece, a couple of wispy lintmarks (as struck), and a number of scattered flyspecks. Population: 2 in 65, 0 finer (2/05).
