1851-O<G$1> MS63 PCGS. Rich orange-gold toning is prevalent except for lime coloration across the reverse periphery. The strike is bold, save for the top of the 5 in the date. The top of the prominent 1 has a concealed mark; otherwise, this piece would challenge an MS64 designation. The 1851-O and 1853-O have identical mintages of 290,000 pieces, and are the most available dates within the short run (1850 to 1853) of New Orleans Closed Wreath gold dollars.
