1851 N-45 R4+ MS63+.
1851 N-45 R4+ MS63+. Lustrous light steel brown with underlying very faded mint red covering the fields and protected areas. The surfaces are satiny and the luster is unbroken. No spots, stains, or significant signs of contact. The best identifying marks are a microscopic planchet flake in the field close under the tip of the nose and a few tiny ticks on the rim, including one left of star 4 and another over star 7. E-MDS, die state a, with a single die crack on the obverse from the coronet through star 5 to the dentils over star 4. Finest known by a good margin over a trio of MS60 examples. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS65BN (NGC label included). DWH #2485.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.

Provenance: Ex Tom Reynolds 8/19/04.
