1851 N-23 R3 NGC graded MS64 BrownFrosty chocolate and olive brown with overtones of bluish steel and 10% of the mint red remaining, mostly on the reverse. Sharply struck with excellent eye appeal. The notable marks are a thin nick on the jaw over the throat and a hairline scratch between stars 6 & 7, and neither mark is significant. Scarce EDS, die state a, with a fine die line from the dentils to the top of the A in STATES. Our grade is MS60, tied for CC#8 overall for the variety but second finest of the early die state in the Grellman census. (The reverse of the holder is scuffed.)Certificate Number: 630528-003Pedigree: Ex Heritage Auctions #1127:7080-Chris McCawley, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 6/2/2013:594-Fred H.
