This Colt Model 1849 Cap & Ball Revolver is completely untouched and original, as such, is much sought after by investors and collectors. This Colt was made Circa: 1851, SN: 18325, at the height of the California Gold Rush during the early 1850's. It has a (6'') barrel and is .31 Calibre. The serious collector/investor will appreciate the vivid sharp cylinder engraving showing the famous stagecoach holdup scene. All matching numbers throughout, excellent bore, 100% original finish (varnish) still remains on the grips. The finish still retains 85+% original blue with slight traces of the original case colors on the frame. Overall screw heads are in good condition. A good amount of the original silver still in evidence on the back strap and trigger guard. Most of the ''safety pins'' are still in evidence on the cylinder, which shows minimal usage and no real abuse. The action and lockup are as it was in 1851. Because of this Colt Pistol's diminutive size and weight it was very popular with both the Union and Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. Also, records show many of the gold prospectors chose this pistol. This beautiful, well cared for antique revolver has been in a California Estate for well over 75 + years. A pre- Civil War 1849 ''Pocket Model'' Colt that will be a fine and wise investment for one who appreciates American History. This item has to be paid by wire transfer, no credit card. Buyers Pay Actual Shipping and Handling Charges(see terms and conditions for more information).
