<B>1851-C $2 1/2 AU55 NGC.</B></I> Variety 13-G. A rare coin above Extremely Fine; Mint State coins are seldom encountered. Heavy horizontal lines cross through the center of the obverse on this piece, an injury to the die that is seen on many coins of this issue, but it lacks the canal-shaped grooves before and behind Liberty's head. Otherwise the brownish-gold surfaces are appealing, with few noticeable abrasions and some luster still evident.
