<B>1851 $50 LE Humbert Fifty Dollar, 887 Thous. 50 Rev.--Tooled--NCS. AU Details.</B></I> K-4, High R.5. This piece is best described as a miniature piece of art. Every design element on both sides has been entirely reengraved, by hand, an obviously painstaking process. Far more than a damaged coin, this gold slug represents the finest workmanship that was available at the time. The entire eagle, shield, ribbon, and denomination on the obverse are reworked. The reverse has the central 50 and the border both completely hand engraved, as well as a few of the individual lines in the lathe-turned design.
