This is a ornate mid 19th century 1850's Old Paris porcelain Serves style sauce tureen. This high style sauce tureen is beautifully painted in apple green, cobalt blue and tan, All highlighted in Rococo gold gilt scrolls all over the body of this tureen. This oval shaped tureen is melon shaped. The pierced finial is in the shaped of intertwined oak branches with oak leaves and acorns handing down. The handes on the side has the same motif.

Good condition. One rim chip on the base of tureen. Height 6" by 7"1/2 long.

This kind of ornate Paris porcelain was a big part of 19th century Southern culture and used in the fine rooms of plantation homes and townhouses in the deep South from Mobile Alabama to New Orleans Louisiana and Up to Natchez Mississippi and Baltimore Maryland, Where lots of it can still be seen today in museums.
