Counterstamped U.S. Type Coin Lot. Consists of an unlisted counterstamp: 1850s A.E. Kennard, Boston, Mass., Jeweller, Rulau Mass-506a, on an 1853 Arrows and Rays quarter. While the merchant is a known issuer of counterstamped coins, this is perhaps the first one reported on something other than a U.S. large cent. This piece might help further researchers with the approximate date Kennard applied the counterstamps. The host coin was in circulation for a short period, which would date the striking around 1853-55. Also an 1867 U.S. Shield nickel counterstamped The American Hotel, Winona, Minn., and listed as Rulau Mn-Wn1. The current market value is approximately $150-$250.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
