By the same token, the price of silver was on the decline. While never a particularly popular or highly produced coin, only 7,500 silver dollars were struck in 1850. Probably no more than 200 pieces are extant today in all grades. At the AU and Mint State level, probably fewer than 100 individual pieces are known. This is a well-detailed AU that retains the flashy semi-prooflike finish so often seen in the fields of Seated dollars. Mostly brilliant, there is just a bit of light, smoky brown patina present on each side. Minimally abraded.
