 1850 P1C One Cent, Judd-120 Restrike, P
<B>1850<P1C> One Cent, Judd-120 Restrike, Pollock-135, High R.7, MS62 NGC.</B></I> This annular pattern design was an early attempt by the Mint to reduce the cumbersome size of the contemporary Large Cent. Struck in billon alloy (10% silver, 90% copper) with a plain edge. From the same dies as Judd-119, but the centers are not perforated. This rare pattern is believed to be a restrike; presumably the 'midnight minters' lacked either the equipment or incentive to perforate the planchets prior to coining. Smooth, subdued surfaces display olive-gray patination. The reverse features heavy die cracks.
