<B>1850-O<$20> AU55 NGC.</B></I> A lovely representative of the introductory New Orleans double eagle issue. Bright luster individually illuminates the obverse stars, and luster also glows from Liberty's coronet and the reverse devices. The strike is consistent, and a hint of wear on the portrait highpoints is consistent with the grade. Best of all, there are no rim bruises, scratches, or obtrusive bagmarks. Demand from O-mint type sets pressures even the collectible '50-O to '53-O issues. Census: 38 in 55, 12 finer (9/06).
