Circa 1814 - 1850 Meissen Serving Bowl. This beautiful covered bowl is wonderfully made and decorated. The Meissen marks are in blue. This mark was authenticated by the Kovel's Dictionary of Marks. On the underside of the lid, because the porcelain clay was so thick at this point, it split while being fired. The fractures do not show at all from the outside, and they do not detract from the beauty of the bowl whatsoever. This factory made covered bowl is a very nice, hand decorated piece with raised flowers and leaves. The bottom of the bowl is non-footed, another sign of its early age. This piece, I am told, was purchased in England. It measures 11 1/4" by 8 1/2" and 5 1/2" tall, including the finial. Other than the slight splitting of the porcelain under the lid, there are no chips or cracks. Also, there is no glaze crazing AT ALL. The photo does not show, but the porcelain is SNOW WHITE. This is a fine piece of Meissen, and condition wise is perfect except for the factory splitting. I do not have to tell anybody what pieces of Meissen, of this size, this caliber of condition, and age go for. Check your books.
If there are any further questions, or other pictures desired, please do not hesitate to ask.

I believe, the double horizontal slashes across the swords indicates this is a factory second because of the clay splitting.

Money back guarantee if not absolutely delighted with this piece.
