<Our item number 99187><B>&#40;Hawaii&#41; 1850 Hawaiian Language Receipt From the Governor of Oahu.</B> Receipt for &#36;150.00 from O.R. Wood signed by M. Kekuanaoa, who was the patriarch of an old and extremely influential Hawaiian family and who served as Governor of Oahu under Kamehameha III in the 1830s, 1 p., 10½x8½&#34;, Honolulu, 4 Sept. 1850. Also signed by S.A. Baldwin on the docket. Very good; scattered foxing and contemporary ink smears; royal blind stamp seal at upper left. Written entirely in Hawaiian, the document refers to William L. Lee, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
