1850 G$1 MS64 PCGS. Produced to the extent of 481,953 pieces, which is substantially less than the mintages of the 1851, 1852, 1853, and 1854, the 1850 is among the scarcer Type One Gold Dollars from the Philadelphia Mint. Until recently, the high grade rarity of the 1850 was not widely recognized, but the advent of third party grading has helped to give this issue the respect it deserves among gold specialists. This orange-gold example is exceptionally attractive even for the MS64 grade level. The luster is full and frosty, and one can even discern modest hints of brightness in the fields. The sharply struck surfaces are devoid of all but one or two wispy obverse abrasions. A find for the astute collector. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
