1850-C $5 MS63 PCGS. Ex: Ashland City. Variety 15-F. The rarest variety of the year, the 15-F shows a rim-to-rim die break on the lower reverse, that on this coin is an actual cud. This is probably the second finest known example of this popular issue, being exceeded only in grade by the MS64 from the Milas Collection. The devices are fully struck throughout and the mintmark is completely brought up. The surfaces are bright green-gold with a light overlay of orange patina. Each side shows a few small field marks but none are large enough to warrant individual mention. An outstanding, high grade Charlotte half eagle.
Ex: Ashland City Collection of Branch Mint Gold Coins (Heritage, 1/03), lot 4773.

From The Waxhaw Collection.

Coin Engraver: Christian Gobrecht

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
