<B>1850-C $5 AU55 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 15-G. Sharp mintmark variety. This is an extremely well struck piece with the mintmark completely defined; a number of Variety 15-G 1850-C half eagles have a weak or nearly invisible mintmark. The centers are particularly well-defined on this coin with strong hair and feather details. There are a few light marks in the fields but the surfaces are cleaner than average and fully original with no hairlines or signs of brightening. The luster is frosty and nearly full while the color is an attractive orange-gold with even hues seen on the obverse and reverse. This is an essentially "new" coin with just a touch of friction noted and it has excellent overall eye appeal. Housed in an old PCGS holder.<BR> The 1850-C is another reasonably available Charlotte half eagle with more than 200 examples currently accounted for. There are as many as four to five dozen in AU with the majority in the lower range of this grade. About 10 to 12 exist in Uncirculated.
