1850-C $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. Variety 12-G. A more available Charlotte quarter eagle that becomes exceedingly scarce in Mint State. In this grade there are few measurably better, with just four pieces currently graded finer by the two major services. Well struck on both sides. The only noticeable weakness is on some of the obverse stars, and on the eagle's left (facing) leg, talons, and arrow fletchings. Lustrous with pleasing lime-gold toning, substantial semi-prooflikeness in the fields, and marks on each side that are numerous but mainly small and superficial, leaving the luster essentially undisturbed. Only 9,148 quarter eagles of this date were struck at the Charlotte Mint. Census: 13 in 61, 3 finer (11/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
