1850-C $2 1/2 MS60 PCGS. Variety 12-G. The mintmark is centered over the 1 in the fraction, and is immediately between the left (facing) claw and the fletchings. This example is very attractive and seems conservatively graded. The fine satin luster highlights lovely lime-gold and peach coloration. The prominent, wavy die clash marks on each side are entirely expected, for the issue. The striking details are definitely better than average for the Charlotte Mint, and careful examination is required in order to detect slight weakness on the obverse stars, Liberty's hair, and the lower parts of the eagle. A shallow abrasion above TA in STATES is the only noteworthy surface anomaly. This issue is scarce in Mint State, and, according to Doug Winter (1998): "This date is nearly impossible to locate without very heavily abraded surfaces." This coin must be an exception to the rule, as surface marks are absolutely minimal. Population: 1 in 60, 3 finer (11/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
