1850-C $2 1/2 AU58 PCGS. Variety 12-G. Two different reverse dies were used for the coinage of 1850-C quarter eagles, and they are easily distinguished by a quick glance. The mintmark is centered over the digit 1 in the fraction on this variety with reverse G. The other reverse has the mintmark centered over the top of the fraction bar. This is a sharply struck AU58 example (except for the usually soft legs on the eagle) with bright greenish-yellow gold surfaces that exhibit semi-prooflike fields. A few minor grade-consistent marks are visible on both sides. Rare at this grade level. Population: 8 in 58, 4 finer (7/07).

Coin Engraver: Christian Gobrecht

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
