<B>1850 $20 AU50 PCGS.</B></I> 1850 saw the introduction of the double eagle series, a denomination that would continue until the cessation of circulating gold coinage in 1933. As the first of its type, the 1850 double eagle is a popular piece, yet tough to find in Mint State, which leads collectors to high grade circulated pieces such as the present bright gold coin. Noticeable wear is evident on the highest points of the design, particularly on Liberty's hair, yet a good deal of luster is readily visible in the recessed areas.
