1850 – 1890’s Mexican officer’s sword with fancy silver grip and pommel showing eagle’s head, signed C. Zamora and two cartouches where silver ricasso meets the blade. The blade measures 28”, is almost straight in its manufacture, nearly 1” in width, with unusual blood groove that starts approx. 6” down the blade from the ricasso and extends approx. 16”. The sword is made without a guard, the blade is well tempered andsomewhat thick or sturdy and in good condition with some beginning pitting and erosion. The quality of the silverwork is very good and Zamora is well known to Mexican collectors for his silver work, particularly on spurs. Est: $750 - $1,500
