1849 N-21 R4+ MS62+.
1849 N-21 R4+ MS62+. Glossy chocolate and steel brown with 10% of the red remaining, mostly on the reverse. The only marks are a tiny, faint hairline scratch in the field above the nose tip and a small splash of slightly darker toning under the ribbon loop. EDS, die state a early, with smooth, slightly reflective obverse fields thanks to a fresh die lapping following the N-26 marriage. All the fine die lines are crisp. A beautiful cent, very close to MS63. CC#3 in the Grellman census, and only 3 mint state examples are known of this tough die variety. DWH #2131.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
