<B>1849 G$1 No L MS64 PCGS.</B></I> The first dies of the gold dollar design, which differ in several ways from the 1850 and later issues. The wreath is open, Liberty's portrait is smaller, and no L is present on the design truncation. Three stars are broadly repunched. Bright yellow-gold surfaces yield pleasing luster, and exhibit sharply impressed design elements.
