1849-D G$1 AU55 PCGS. Variety 1-A. The gold dollar was a new denomination in 1849, added to the Mint's lineup along with the double eagle, providing additional demand for the new gold being mined in California. Meanwhile, in Dahlonega, production of gold dollars began with a mintage of 21,588 coins, making this issue the most common of all Dahlonega gold dollars. This lustrous light yellow example has a trace of wear on the highpoints, appearing as deeper orange color. Despite a few minor imperfections, the surfaces are exceptional for the grade.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
