<B>1849-C $5 XF45 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 12-F, Die State I. On variety 13-F the 1 in the date touches the truncation of the bust, while on variety 12-F the 1 is below the truncation. This is the more common variety, but in the less-common Die State I, lacking the die crack that travels from the rim just below the U in UNITED to the olive leaves. The lemon-yellow surfaces on the obverse darken to amber-gold at the reverse rims, and the moderate abrasions and field chatter are consistent with the Choice XF grade.
