<B>1849 $5 Norris, Gregg, & Norris Five Dollar, P.E. AU53 PCGS.</B></I> K-2, R.5. This rare variety has the period after ALLOY, appearing as two periods (with the nearby dot between ALLOY and GOLD). In fact, according to the Kagin gold reference, this is the rarest five dollar Territorial gold issue after the R.6 reeded edge, No Period variety. This example is well struck (with medallic alignment), although the eagle shows typical mushiness, and there are a few light abrasions on the obverse and a couple of small puncture marks in the reverse fields. The coloration is a variegated combination of green-gold and red.
