1849 $10 Moffat & Co. Ten Dollar, "Ten Dol." XF40 NGC. K-6a, High R.5. The first coins issued by the private firm of Moffat & Company were 1849-dated ten dollar gold pieces. At the time of their production, Moffat & Company was the only private minter in San Francisco besides Norris, Gregg, & Norris, and this denomination does not usually appear much finer. The present example is unusually attractive for the grade, with even overall wear and plenty of bold definition remaining in the protected areas of the design. Abrasions are moderate, and the color is a rich, original green-gold. A perfect candidate for inclusion in a circulated Territorial gold type set. Listed on page 352 of the 2008 Guide Book.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
