<B>1849<$10> MS63 NGC.</B></I> Although the present No Motto eagle is undesignated as Prooflike by NGC, both fields are nonetheless flashy. The reverse field is particularly reflective. The 1849 is readily collectible in XF and AU grades, but Mint State examples are rare, and none have been certified above MS64. A prooflike MS63 example provides an important opportunity for the gold specialist. Evaluation using a loupe reveals no identifying marks, and only a cluster of light hairlines on the upper reverse field limits the grade. Moderate strike incompleteness is noted on the centers of the major devices. This die variety is interesting for a cluster of bold die lines through the TY in LIBERTY, and a second set of mint-made die lines through Liberty's curls. Population: 8 in 63, 3 finer (9/06).
