1848 Presidential Election Whig Party Political Circular
October 25, 1847-Dated Mexican War Period, 1848 Presidential Election Unusual Whig Printed Circular, Choice Very Fine.
This Whig Party Circular, measuring 5” x 7.5”, 4 pages printed in black on clean wove period paper. Nice and sharp, just lacking a small piece of the bottom right corner from when opened. This circular is in the form of a stampless folded letter. This Whig party distributed circular is headed “[Very Confidential]” in Albany, (New York). This circular tells readers, “The political harvest is now fully ripe! Let the Whig Reapers go forth with Sickles!” The political harvest was in response to the fractured Democratic party in the nation, which made victory more certain for the unified Whigs. The Whigs eventually nominated Zachary Taylor as its nominee, who, as predicted by the circular, won the 1848 election.
