1848-D $2 1/2 MS63 PCGS. Variety 10-M. An amazing example of the issue, this piece has sharp design definition on both sides with frosty green-gold luster that exhibits traces of light orange toning. Only a handful of pieces grade MS60 or finer, and none have been certified by either NGC or PCGS in any finer grade than this piece. Doug Winter comments: "The 1848-D quarter eagle is typically available in Extremely Fine grades. It is scarce but obtainable in the lower About Uncirculated grades. It becomes rare in the higher AU grades and it is very rare in Mint State." He estimated a total Mint State population of just five to seven different pieces, although today the quantity may be as many as 10 such coins.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
