<B>1848-D $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 10-M. Two varieties are known, and this 10-M variety is more plentiful. The other variety, 10-N, has the mintmark closer to the fraction. This lustrous Mint State example is a splendid piece with frosty luster and brilliant yellow-gold color. Although a few abrasions are evident on each side, this example is much nicer than normally seen. Although the date is one of the more plentiful quarter eagles from the Dahlonega Mint, it is still a rarity in all Mint State grades.
