<B>1848-C $2 1/2 MS61 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 9-F. The second 8 in the date is closer to the rim than the bust. One of the finest certified examples of this scarce Charlotte issue. Only 16,788 pieces were struck, and only a handful of Mint State survivors are known. The strike is surprisingly sharp, with softness limited to the E in LIBERTY and a few feathers on the left (facing) leg. The orange-yellow and olive-green surfaces lack identifying marks, and the eye appeal is excellent given the mint of origin.
