<B>1848-C $2 1/2 AU55 NGC.</B></I> Variety 9-F. Considerable luster remains under the deep brown and smoke-gray toning that occupies both sides of this difficult issue. The strike is typically weak around LIBERTY and the eagle's lower body on the reverse, and a couple of abrasions on Liberty's cheek prevent a finer grade. The peripheral strike is decent, however, and otherwise there are few singular impairments.
