<B>1848-C $2 1/2 AU50 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 9-F. Garrett and Guth (2006) note that many of the coins from this Charlotte Mint date were produced from bulged dies, and exhibit extremely poor striking characteristics. This example was not produced from bulged dies, but does show some weakness on Liberty's hair, and on the eagle's legs and talons, which is typical for the issue. Evenly worn with muted luster and a few small marks; a pleasing AU example of this scarce quarter eagle.
