1847<S$1> MS65 NGC. This is one of the "common dates" among Seated Liberty Silver Dollars in the 1840s, and yet this Gem MS65 example is still tied for the finest certified by either NGC or PCGS. The mintage of 140,750 coins was the eighth highest mintage of any date in the No Motto series, and the fourth highest of the decade. As such, it seems likely that examples would be easily obtainable in any desired grade, but this is truly not the case. This example is highly lustrous and sharply struck with fully brilliant satiny surfaces and excellent eye appeal. Several raised diagonal die lines are visible in the reverse field, attesting to the fullness of strike. This is one of six examples certified as MS65 by both NGC and PCGS, combined, and is an offering that will be viewed with excitement by current day Seated Liberty Dollar specialists.
